The Rohde and Schwarz FSW is a series of advanced signal and spectrum analyzers. Keysight has things like the E4405B.
Terms
- reference level = power or voltage at top of display grid
- attenuation = input signal power level
- ref level offset = positive usually as a compensation of physical attenuation in lines of input signal in test system
- VSA = vector signal analyzer which shows PSK constellation view
- EVM = error vector magnitude, this is a top-down view of a Gaussian bell so scattered over an x-y plot in a circular form of many points, AKA "IQ constellation"
The input power limits are >0dBm leads to compression, while > 30dBm leads to damage.
0dBm = 1mW of power so dBm measures are relative to milliwatts and any negative dBm is between 0mW and 1mW.
Other settings are
- ScaleType = for linear default amplitude units are Volts
- Span = the distance across the grid
- Zero span = indicates time domain so no sense of frequency (doesn't span the spectrum)
